Helen Chandler (1906-1965) was an American actress best known for her role as Mina Harker in the classic 1931 film "Dracula." She started her acting career on Broadway before transitioning to film in the early 1930s. In addition to "Dracula," Chandler also appeared in other notable films such as "The Last Flight" and "Christopher Strong."
Chandler's career was derailed by personal struggles with alcohol and mental health issues, which led to her retirement from acting in the mid-1930s. She spent the remainder of her life in relative obscurity, resurfacing briefly for a few small roles in the 1940s before withdrawing from the public eye for good. Despite her short-lived career, Chandler is remembered as a talented actress whose performance in "Dracula" solidified her place in horror movie history.
